Course Description
This is a Trauma Informed Trigger Point Therapy Training.
Liz Koch calls the psoas the “muscle of the soul,” and the more we learn about this tissue, the more we see it as much more than a hip flexor. The psoas responds to our fears, stresses, and traumas. Modern life keeps most of us chronically stressed, and the psoas feels it. That’s why nearly every client who gets on your table can benefit from skilled, respectful work with this muscle and its co-conspirator, the iliacus.
The quadratus lumborum sits behind and snuggles up to the psoas. When you work with one, it’s important to work with the other for the greatest benefit.
In this LIVE training, students are guided through the anatomy of the iliopsoas and quadratus lumborum and the important structures nearby. You will learn how these muscles act on the lumbar spine and pelvis, what gets them into tension, and their pain referral patterns. We’ll look at how chronic stress affects the psoas directly, and I’ll teach you simple breathing practices to help clients relax more deeply and prepare for the work ahead. Then I guide you through each step of the protocol, including simple body reading to determine where we begin, trigger point location and release with plenty of soothing, integrative techniques.
Releasing the Psoas and Quadratus Lumborum pairs beautifully with Releasing the Glutes, taught the following day. These two workshops together will give you skills you can immediately implement to help your clients with both hip and lower back issues. Register for both at the same time and save $30.
Included:
- Expert training
- Student handout with anatomy and trigger point pain referral pictures
- Access to a dedicated Google Drive with a copy of my PPT and videos of each step of the treatment that you can watch after the training, including the guided breathing practices
