Aug 18 course
Workshop Description:
In “Movement-Based Bodywork: Applications for the Temporomandibular Joint,” we apply the knowledge gained in the class “Movement-Based Bodywork: Foundations of the Temporomandibular Joint.”
We will learn hands-on techniques to accomplish the following:
- Increase the client’s kinesthetic awareness of the mandible and its functional movement.
- Increase mandibular and cervical ranges of motion.
- Use active assisted range of motion techniques to engage the client’s active cooperation to achieve these goals.
- Explore the function of the hyoid and its surrounding musculature, and use the hyoid as an indirect release of the temporomandibular musculature.
- Continue the discussion of the relevant theory and strategies of the Feldenkrais Method®.
- Discuss the relationship of TMJ dysfunction to emotion, including anatomical/physiological and evolutionary considerations.
It is recommended, but not absolutely required, that you take “Movement-Based Bodywork: Foundations of the Temporomandibular Joint.” prior to this class.
Bring sheets, lotion, and a large towel or mat.
This class qualifies for 6 hours of hands-on continuing education, Florida and NCBTMB. There will be a one hour lunch break.
