Are you suffering from neck pain and tension headache? Or do you have clients who are?
Using the gentle movement explorations of the Feldenkrais Method©, we will explore the connections between posture, chronic neck pain, tension headache, and eyestrain. We will focus on the body as a whole, investigating the complex connections between structure, function, balance, and muscular strain.
Goals include:
- Improved posture
- Decreased chronic tension around neck, shoulders, and eyes.
- As chronic eyestrain affects visual acuity, some may find that vision is improved when this tension is relieved.
- Better understanding of the complexity of this system, leading to comprehension of the necessity of a broad treatment plan for long term results.
- Understanding of the importance of the triad of balance, and how to work with it.
No massage technique is practiced: focus in on self-care, anatomy, and kinesiology. There will be a demonstration of hands-on technique based on the principles taught. This qualifies for six hands-on CE units for NCBTMB. There is no prerequisite.
Exploratory exercises will be done on a carpeted floor; students may wish to bring a mat or towel, and wear comfortable clothes for movement. Students should be able to lie on the floor and come to standing with little or no assistance. Hands-on technique will be demonstrated but not performed. No sheets or lotion are necessary.
This class meets the requirements for six hands-on hours, NCBTMB, with a live demonstration. There is no need for close contact in this class.
Class starts at 10 AM and ends at 5 PM. There will be an hour for lunch, starting at approximately 12:30.
