Hi, my name is Adrienne Engel, and I am a somatic massage therapist specializing in trauma integration and our spiritual connection. I’ve been a massage therapist for the past 31 years, and I absolutely love it.
One of the most important things I’ve learned in my career is that our nervous system is naturally designed to connect us to our Divine Creator. This means we can receive guidance from our Creator anytime, and that guidance is felt in our nervous system, showing us the exact steps to take when facing difficult, overwhelming, or even positive situations. We are guided through every part of our lives by our living creator in a state of peace, grace, and rest, and this is available to everyone.
Sadly, because of how fast life moves and a lack of understanding about our nervous system, many people feel disconnected from the divine that wants to bring them rest, peace, care, and purpose.
The good news is that it’s easy to activate this part of your nervous system, and there are simple ways to check that you can reconnect with your ability to hear divine guidance when you need it.
I’d like to offer the simple steps here, but sometimes it also works better to practice it, and I’ll leave the link to the YouTube page below, and you can do a rise and shine practice, download the worksheet for free, and watch how your divine guide will lead you through a circumstance that you are currently facing.
For some people, having it written down is helpful, so I’m gonna give you the steps here as well.
Step One: Right where you are seated, take a moment to notice how your body is held by the surfaces you are sitting on.
You literally count your points of contact. For example, I feel my feet connected to the floor and my lower back and hips connected to my chair.
Step Two: Out of those points of contact, which one feels the most supportive?
Step Three: After you find the supportive spot, focus your mind on that area and say to yourself out loud or quietly, “Here is where I am already supported,” while keeping your attention there.
Step Four: Give your body 2 to 5 minutes and notice how your muscles and breathing start to adjust naturally. You’ll feel a slight change in your breathing, and your muscles will gently shift on their own.
Activating the integrative portion of your nervous system helps your body and mind work together. If you set a timer for five minutes and let your mind keep noticing what is changing in your breath and how you feel supported, you will go deeper into feeling that support.
When you feel the support of something as simple as your chair, your mind opens. You don’t have to try hard. Your natural intuition starts working. You move away from focusing too much on stress or overwhelm and begin to notice a feeling that is safe, steady, and simple. Your body and mind follow. This is the first step you can take anywhere to get ready to hear the guidance your Divine Connection is giving you.
