InBodyMeant Somatic Training is the most comprehensive somatic massage course on the market and builds your competency. Somatic work is a valuable skill to integrate into the modalities you currently provide. It enhances your nervous system’s capacity for rest by more than double. It’s a great way to begin a session and a fantastic way to end it.

My name is Adrienne Engel, and I’ve been a massage therapist for the past 30 years. I specialize in complex medical trauma and integration of that trauma utilizing somatic therapy, percussion therapy, and strength training, deep pathways of rest, and positioning people to recover from the intensities of their lives. Over the past decade, I’ve been teaching other massage therapists and clients how to engage somatic skills to help their bodies and minds heal faster as they experience how they are divinely supported and held.

In 2025, I began teaching somatic skills as part of a continuing education program at the Florida School of Massage. It’s been a learning curve, watching the students take the class and seeing how easily they apply the skills they learned from a 16-hour weekend training. There’s as much learning for me as for the participants!

What I realized is that we needed to shift the training schedule and provide much more support. The mission is to ensure therapists have what they need to not only learn these skills, but also build confidence in using them while being personally changed by them. Our process is more comprehensive and is working well! In addition to the 16-hour class, which is what therapists commonly need for continuing education units, we added a Practice weekend, which is not for your CEU licensing but for the requirements to become a somatic therapist certified through my program.

Practice Day, held the month after the main 16-hour class, ensures that you’ve had multiple times to practice with each other and that you really feel confident and changed by this work. Practice Days allow you to work with other students who are moving through this process and mastering their language and pace. They also let you ask me questions as I see how you’re progressing in real time. This support is fundamental to your growth in Somatic Skills.

We also added a bi-weekly online Concepts Class, where you can join between the 16-hour courses. We’re live on Wednesdays at 10:45 a.m., and you can ask questions and talk about what you’re encountering and celebrating as you learn to apply new skills. These classes are free for registered participants in the 16-hour course. Each Concepts Class is recorded and available for later viewing in case you can’t make it live. You can also send in questions that I can answer in class!

Another adjustment is that I made the Demos available to you before the classes are offered, so you have 2 weeks to watch them and get familiar with the skills before you arrive. This helps when you get to the class, and you’re seeing Somatic Therapy again. We set expectations for how it will look, how it will sound, and what you will practice throughout that weekend. You’ll be better able to absorb what you see, helping your brain become more comfortable and ready to practice.

I’m very excited about our upcoming class, February 14 – 15, focusing on supporting and integrating all that the chest and shoulders have encountered in life.

If you know, clients or even yourself, feeling like you’re carrying the load of the world on your shoulders, or if you have experienced overwhelming depression, anxiety, those are the types of conditions that this class is going to really help to decrease the intensity of and help to begin the process of integration.

I’m looking forward to sharing this work with you once you register for the class. You can access the demo as soon as you register to get ready!

The registration deadline is February 8, so we can hold a seat for you!

Feel welcome to reach out to talk to me about any questions, and I look forward to seeing you all at this month’s upcoming CEU.
