frank staff photoI just completed my license renewal last week. It was relatively painless and easy. All was done online. First I went to CEBroker.com and entered my user name and password. I had established this free account option awhile ago. Once in my account, I confirmed that all of my continuing education requirements were complete. I knew that I couldn’t renew until all my CE requirements were met.  I noticed that my account even had a little graph that showed the percentage of completion and then below were listed all the classes that had been recorded for my license number.

I then went to the Florida Department of Health website and entered my license category, number, username and password.  All this information was listed on the renewal reminder I received earlier in May in the mail.  I answered the required questions on the DOH website, confirmed my particulars, entered payment and printed my receipt. All was done in a short time, and now I am complete until August 31, 2017. The procedure was smooth and easy. Renewed!!

I attended several classes in the last few months to complete my CE requirements. A class with Pete Whitridge on the breath, and another one with Deane Juhan on the use of nervous system engagement to evaluate and treat the neck, shoulder and jaw. I took my required medical error prevention course with Kristen Toth, and the laws and ethics class with Karen Ball. I learned useful information and skills in each class.  I really do appreciate the quality of the classes we have available at the Florida School of Massage. There is so much opportunity to evolve professionally and further my education without having to travel. This really makes learning affordable and easy to complete.

I think about the quality instructors that come to FSM to present classes. Georgia Milne was here earlier this year and will be again in August presenting Biodynamic Cranial Work. Deane Juhan will be back next year. Gil Hedley is being invited. Hopefully Sharon Wheeler will return to offer more scar work. And then there is the local talent that I can sometimes take for granted, because I already know them!

I do hope that licensees will continue to support the classes that are offered. It is a rare gift to have so much offered right here. I talk with other therapists who have to travel great distances to have access to educational opportunities. We see this regularly in our classes with participants coming from the Panhandle, South Florida, and out of state.

If you haven’t already made plans for completing your CE requirements why not do so now? Look at the course offerings available through the school. Pick one that interests you and support these instructors in helping each of us get complete. This is another form of renewal!!
