Spend two days with Pete Whitridge exploring deep tissue structures of the upper body that are at the root of most client pain. \n\nRefine your touching skills and gain new confidence\nDeepen your knowledge of anatomy and fascial structures\nTeach your clients to work with you during therapy\nEliminate chronic pain by working below the client’s pain threshold\nSlow down\, focus your attention\, be more effective with less effort\n\nThis workshop will offer a multi-disciplinary approach to treating chronic pain\, targeting the upper body region – the Responsibility Center. We will explore orthopedic assessments\, fascial stretching\, and hydrotherapies\, as well as myofascial and muscle energy techniques to help identify and eliminate pain and dysfunction. You will have the opportunity to dialogue about your own specific client needs and learn self-care strategies to help clients maintain pain free movement. We will investigate the unique nature of connective tissue and review current findings from the Fascia Research Congress. This class is designed to help you pinpoint problem areas quickly\, devise strategies to eliminate pain\, and work collaboratively with your client. You will receive lots of bodywork\, learn new ways to handle clients with chronic pain\, and reconnect with fellow massage therapists. You will leave this class with new skills and confidence in helping your clients be pain free! \nAbout the instructor\nPete’s been a licensed massage therapist since 1988. He is a founder and Past President of the Alliance For Massage Therapy Education and has dedicated his career to helping establish high standards in massage therapy education. He teaches throughout the US and is a frequent speaker at FSMTA\, FCA and AMTA meetings and conventions. Pete has served as Chair of the FL Board of Massage Therapy. He received the FSMTA Charles Canfield Award for service to the massage profession in 2004. He was inducted into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame in 2016 at the World Massage Festival. He lives in Fort Pierce\, FL with his wife Lee. They travel frequently and would love to visit your town.

We will teach you orthopedic tests\, functional assessment protocols and treatments to address common issues in your practice. \nThere will be an emphasis on advanced massage techniques\, with plenty of time to practice and receive guidance by instructors.\nWe will address common conditions that your clients experience or suffer from such as arthritis\, dysfunctions or common spinal conditions including spinal stenosis and scoliosis. This Orthopedic and Sports Massage Certification course will better help you develop your skills and help you grow your practice. \nYou will receive a detailed manual for this course. \nUnderstanding Hip and Low Back Pain and Dysfunction is a 16 hour CEU Certified class \nThis course is part of the Orthopedic and Sports Massage Certification. These certification classes do not need to be taken in sequence and can be taken as single weekend educational trainings. If students complete all six courses they will receive a Certification in Orthopedic and Sports Massage. \nOur 96 hour\, six course certification will help our students gain a deeper understanding of soft tissue injuries\, how to treat them and what causes them. We will use the study of the anatomy to get a wider comprehension of the musculature and other structures that support movement to enhance the students understanding of how function is achieved in the body. In addition\, our courses will be based heavily around learning assessment protocols. These classes will deepen your understanding of injury and pain and advance your confidence to provide treatment to your clients. \nAdvanced Certification Page \nAbout the Instructors\nCristian Arroyo has been a practicing LMT/Personal Trainer for 23 years. He has developed a professional clinical practice working with athletes and the general population\, specializing in the causes and treatments for pain\, injury and discomfort. His years of experience lend to a thorough understanding of dysfunction in the body which supports a more efficient and positive treatment protocol for his clients. \nIn addition to massage therapy\, Cristian has trained extensively in functional anatomy\, sports massage\, corrective exercise training/programming\, and orthopedic assessment. Cristian has been an instructor of Kinesiology\, Neuromuscular Therapy\, and Sports Massage at the Florida School of Massage since 2005. He has shared his passion and enthusiasm for understanding human function with thousands of students over the years\, often bringing his clinical experience in the real world to the classroom. \nKeith Mulford has been practicing massage since 2009 and instructing in Swedish\, Sports\, Neuromuscular Massage and Applied Kinesiology at the Florida School of Massage since 2016. In 2011 he completed his certification in Integrative Massage and Personal Training. During his studies he became skilled in assessing and treating injuries\, orthopedic testing\, functional movement and specific bodywork treatments focusing on injuries. His extensive studies in visceral massage and sports massage are reflected in his work with his clients.
