SUMMARY:The Heart Of Hawaiian Lomi Massage

For Questions and to see a video please visit www.lomimassageamelia.com or call or text Tony at 904 557 8350 \nDescription:\nWhat is Hawaiian Lomi massage? If you think of massage as a powerful form of healing\, then Lomi must be considered one of the most profound forms of massage. \nWhere Lomi differs from traditional Swedish massage is simple. Lomi works the whole body and not just the individual parts. Lomi looks at the body not just as a group of muscles\, but rather a complete being allowing healing to take place at various levels. \nWith Swedish massage you can guess when it is time to turn over and when the massage is near completion. Traditional massage therapists are taught to work the body from part to part which allows the client to anticipate which part will be worked on next. \nLomi works the whole body in a continuous rhythm of long flowing strokes. The therapist does what is best described as a dance around the entire body. They will then concentrate on an arm\, or a leg\, or the back\, working as deeply as needed\, and then go back to the full body dance. The therapist never really knows what part they will work on next. They are guided by their intuition as well as what your body tells them needs to be worked on. \nThis kind of spontaneous flow is designed to clear the client’s mind and allows them to relax into and receive the work. As important as the physical act of massage is during the session\, the healing that can take place as the work is being done is as important. \nThe best example of what Lomi is intended to do is very simple. Think of yourself as an empty bowl the day you were born. All along your path in life\, the bowl gets full of stones. Those stones show up due to the everyday stress of your life\, your work\, and your relationships. Lomi is designed to bring you to a safe and loving space where you can\, should you choose to\, throw out some of those stones and to come out of the session lighter and with a greater sense of well-being. \nThe Hawaiians think of the body as being a physical\, mental\, emotional\, and spiritual whole. When healing takes place on one level\, then healing will take place on all levels. \nFor more information and workshop schedules and to see a video of our work please go to www.lomimassageamelia.com

Contact: Ariela at arielagrodner@yahoo.com \nDescription:\nThe system we will be exploring during this class is a descendant of a synthesis of India’s Ayurvedic medical healing art and China’s meridian methodology. In Thai Massage we cultivate an awareness of the “sen” lines and practice various techniques with the intent of bringing them into balance with each other. \nTwo of the greatest practitioners of our time (Asokananda\, Kam Thye Chow) pieced together fragments found in various Buddhist temples around the world\, and together have co-created a modern interpretation of this ancient knowledge. At this stage in the deepening of our skills and awareness of the present we will honor the continuation of the Thai Massage lineage through extending our conscious knowledge and encompassing a more subtle comprehension of the bodies energy pathways. \n \nIn this class we will learn a sequence for each line and really feel the quality it brings to our work. When you apply for the course you will see the option for registering for all seven or just one. If you would like the discount since you’re applying for all seven and you missed the first few classes you can apply this tuition toward the next cycle. Either way you can either jump in one weekend at a time or you can commit to all seven and graduate at the next cycle. \nAbout Ariela Grodner\nAriela Grodner is the founder and lead instructor and practitioner at the Bodhi Sangha School of Thai Massage. She began her teaching career in 1992 in the south of India educating prisoners and tribal villagers in the benefits and practice of Shivananda Yoga. Then she spent many years cultivating the Buddhist meditation technique known as Vipassana. Later in following her Tao she discovered the joys of improvisational contact dance. After graduating from Florida School of Massage she discovered Thai Massage the perfect fusion of these techniques and practices. She is a certified Lotus Palm Practitioner (as taught by Kam Thye Chow) and has taught Thai Massage at the Florida School of Massage since 2004. \nAriela has developed over 300 hours of curriculum has published 9 books on this subject and travels nationally and internationally sharing her love of this art.

This moved me in the same way it must have moved my teacher\, Kam Thy Chow as well. \nOf course the sequences give us a foundation but ultimately one must become intuitive and have an understanding of the elemental body. This is how Ayurveda can come to play. \nIn this class we will break down the winds and how they affect our emotions. How to choose postures to balance different constitutions and how to understand the importance of feeling each of the elements in our own body so we are practicing with Wisdom. Participants can do either a single day or both days. \nCourse Description\nThese courses are designed to be taken together or as individual classes. Either way works well. \nThe ability to offer good specific treatment to areas of the body can distinguish a therapist. When a client has the need to have a condition addressed\, a thorough knowledge of the anatomical structure and contractile tissue associated can be instrumental in helping that person. How much do you remember from massage school or from classes you have taken since? If one is not reviewing on a regular basis what we once knew can slowly or even quickly fade away. \nGetting Specific is a series of one- or two-day workshop experiences that focus on specific areas of the body. Anatomical structures\, synergistic muscle groups\, and effective techniques associated with each specific area of the body will be covered. Use of audio-visual aids\, lecture and hands-on palpation will help the participant get clearer on what they are touching. Demonstrations will address techniques that are useful for the area presented. Lots of hands-on time will be available with the opportunity to interact with the instructor will be offered. This will be a great way to review and build your skills. \nThe Saturday class will be focused on the head and neck. The anatomy will cover the occiput\, cervical processes\, jaw and scapula attachments\, as well as understanding the working movements of the vertebrae and joint structures. You will learn specific treatment techniques for the scalenes\, prevertebrals\, suboccipitals\, paraspinals\, as well as the trapezius and levator scapula. We will play with ways to support the head and neck as well as adding movement to your treatment techniques and enjoy becoming more confident and comfortable working with the head and neck. \nThe Sunday class will focus on the shoulder. The shoulder functionally begins superiorly at the occiput and mastoid process of the skull and inferiorly at the ilium and sacrum. It is anchored in the axial skeleton including vertebrae\, ribs and sternum and ends in the radius and ulna. In this workshop\, we will explore the major components of this wonderfully moveable part of the body. Specific focus on the shoulder girdle\, rotator cuff\, and scapula attachments and musculature including techniques to treat these areas will be shared. We will do sideline work as well as prone and supine. The use of movement will be explored to enhance the effectiveness of this work. Come join and play with this important region of the body. \nYou are invited to participate either one or both days. There is an early registration discount for either class if you register three weeks in advance. I encourage you to take advantage of the early registration discounts. \nYou will need to bring sheets\, lube\, 2-4 pillows for sideline work for the shoulder class and your curiosity and a participatory interest. There will be massage tables available on site. \nAgain to register for these courses or to get more information please contact Frank Merillat via email at fmerillat@mac.com or call (352) 371-0743 or 352 213-4603 (cell or text). \n  \nAbout the instructor:\nFrank has been studying massage and the movement body since 1993\, he is a certified Trager Practitioner\, certified in sports massage and has taught at the Florida School of Massage since 1995.
