Spend two days with Pete Whitridge exploring the physical and emotional aspects of working with clients’ scars. You will learn effective strategies for helping your clients heal. \n• Refine your touching skills and deepen your knowledge of anatomy\n• Gain confidence working with scar tissue\n• Teach your clients to work with you during therapy\n• Eliminate chronic pain by working below the client’s pain threshold\n• Slow down\, focus your attention\, be more effective with less effort \nThis class will offer a multi-disciplinary approach to working with scars\, burns\, and chronic pain. Deepen your therapy skills by exploring how manual therapies can affect traumatic/surgical scars and burns. You will leave this class with new skills and confidence in helping your clients be pain free! \nAbout the Instructor: \nPete’s been a licensed massage therapist since 1988. He is a founder and Past President of the Alliance For Massage Therapy Education and has dedicated his career to helping establish high standards in massage therapy education. He teaches throughout the US and is a frequent speaker at FSMTA\, FCA and AMTA meetings and conventions. Pete has served on the FL Board of Massage Therapy. He received the FSMTA Charles Canfield Award for service to the massage profession in 2004. He was inducted into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame in 2016 at the World Massage Festival. The course includes lecture\, demonstration\, supervised hands-on practice\, handouts\, Q&A and relevant clinical examples of these specific methods. \nThese techniques are based\, foundationally\, on the I-Ching\, the Chinese clock and the concept of holographic mirroring of the body\, similar to reflexology. In order to fully grasp the construction of this method\, you need understanding of the foundational principles of Chinese Medicine. While in class\, you’ll deepen your comprehension of yin and yang\, the five elements\, the location of the meridians and how energy moves within the body. You’ll then design a unique and effective plan using acupressure for your clients’ pain relief and your own self-care. \nWe’ll cover the most common pain patterns seen in the clinic: neck\, shoulders\, back\, sacrum and extremities. At the end of the workshop\, each participant will be able to create and implement a safe\, effective and professional acupressure session. \nClass is open to anyone interested in learning the building blocks of Chinese Medicine and how to use acupressure for themselves and others. \n\nCancellation policy:  \n21 days prior to the workshop\, you can receive a refund minus $50 processing fee.
