Contact: Ariela at arielagrodner@yahoo.com \n\nDescription:\nThis three month training consists of the fundamentals and basic requirements one would need to offer a beautiful Thai Massage session either on the table or mat.\nAriela has designed a program to inspire bodyworkers in today’s field to learn some of the ancient techniques of India and Thailand in an applicable fashion that is easily navigated on a massage table or Thai Massage mat.\nIn Thai-Massage the number three is considered auspicious. It is the first number in nature to create a shape and therefore holds a strong foundation. Ariela put together a series of three classes which she believes will create a foundation and inspire students to really thrive in this field. \nIt is not required to take all of the three classes. Each of the individual weekend standalone. Students will receive a certificate of completion after each weekend for the hours attended. For those completing all three weekends and completing the full training\, they will receive a certificate of completion documenting all three classes and a memento of their hard work they may want to hang on the wall of their office space to present their accomplishments. \nThe first weekend that we meet will be a one hour sequence that can be applied either on the mat or a floor. This will allow students to feel confident to work on their future clients in the art of Thai Massage. The last weekend will be a weekend dedicated to the feet\, which can also be added to the first two weekends as a session for those wanting a longer massage. Learning the foot sequence makes it very easy to give a one and a half to three hour Thai-Massage if ever needed. If you think of massage as a powerful form of healing\, then Lomi must be considered one of the most profound forms of massage. \nWhere Lomi differs from traditional Swedish massage is simple. Lomi works the whole body and not just the individual parts. Lomi looks at the body not just as a group of muscles\, but rather a complete being allowing healing to take place at various levels. \nWith Swedish massage you can guess when it is time to turn over and when the massage is near completion. Traditional massage therapists are taught to work the body from part to part which allows the client to anticipate which part will be worked on next. \nLomi works the whole body in a continuous rhythm of long flowing strokes. The therapist does what is best described as a dance around the entire body. They will then concentrate on an arm\, or a leg\, or the back\, working as deeply as needed\, and then go back to the full body dance. The therapist never really knows what part they will work on next. They are guided by their intuition as well as what your body tells them needs to be worked on. \nThis kind of spontaneous flow is designed to clear the client’s mind and allows them to relax into and receive the work. As important as the physical act of massage is during the session\, the healing that can take place as the work is being done is as important. \nThe best example of what Lomi is intended to do is very simple. Think of yourself as an empty bowl the day you were born. All along your path in life\, the bowl gets full of stones. It reminds me of a watercolor painting where the strokes are broad and soft. \nThere are lines & points traditionally applied\, however in this first class we stick with simplicity. Flow a and Joy. Presents is the foundstion of this art. \nMost will be committing for the entire training\, so our first weekend is an opportunity for joyful expressions and community shared enthusiasm of diving into this beautiful tradition and artful medicine \nWe will be observing techniques and exchanging bodywork for the entire weekend. \nSharing food and chocolate and listening is the Thai Massage way. Our intention is to leave the weekend full of enthusiasm for the progression ahead and to also have some wonderful material in which to begin the journey and share in our community. \nIt’s OK to only take one weekend of the entire program at a time in ones own pace. PRACTICED ON THE FLOOR\, THIS FORM ENABLES THE THERAPIST THE USE OF ELBOWS\, KNEES\, FOREARMS AND FEET IN A COMFORTABLE AND EFFICIENT WAY THAT UTILIZES THE BODY DYNAMIC AND ONES OWN WEIGHT TO DISTRIBUTE THE WEIGHT REQUIRED FOR THE APPLICATION OF GOOD PRESSURE. \nTHE RECIPIENT LIES RELAXED AND LOOSELY CLOTHED WHILE THE PRACTITIONER GUIDES THEM THROUGH A SERIES OF YOGIC ASANAS AND APPLIES BALANCING TOUCH TO THE BODY’S MAJOR ENERGY LINES AND POINTS. \nMat or Table\nIn this first class Ariela office students the opportunity to learn how to give a Thai-Massage either on a mat or on a massage table. The Florida school of massage provides massage tables for all students. If you would like to work on the mat\, you will need to bring one. Contact Ariela and she will help you pick one out or learn how to improvise one for this first class to see if you want to make the commitment. It’s Ariela’s preference to work on the ground but she is very flexible and capable of modifying everything for anybody’s needs. She has written a book on Thai-Massage on the table and also has video footage to help students with the transition. \nAbout Ariela Grodner\nAriela Grodner is the founder and lead instructor and practitioner at the Bodhi Sangha School of Thai Massage. She began her teaching career in 1992 in the south of India educating prisoners and tribal villagers in the benefits and practice of Shivananda Yoga. Then she spent many years cultivating the Buddhist meditation technique known as Vipassana. Later in following her Tao she discovered the joys of improvisational contact dance. After graduating from Florida School of Massage she discovered Thai Massage the perfect fusion of these techniques and practices. She is a certified Lotus Palm Practitioner (as taught by Kam Thye Chow) and has taught Thai Massage at the Florida School of Massage since 2004. \nAriela has developed over 300 hours of curriculum has published 9 books on this subject and travels nationally and internationally sharing her love of this art.

We will explore orthopedic tests\, functional assessment protocols and treatments to address groin pulls\, ACL/PCL\, MCL/LCL and meniscus tears as well as compartment syndrome\, shin splints and plantar fasciitis. \nAdvanced massage techniques will be demonstrated with plenty of time to practice and receive guidance by instructors.\nIf you or your clients experience dysfunctions affecting their knees\, ankles and feet this Orthopedic and Sports Massage Certification course will better help you develop your skills and help you grow your practice. \nYou will receive a detailed manual for this course. \nUnderstanding Lower Extremity Pain and Dysfunction is a 16 hour CEU Certified class \nThis course is part of the Orthopedic and Sports Massage Certification. These certification classes do not need to be taken in sequence and can be taken as single weekend educational trainings. If students complete all six courses they will receive a Certification in Orthopedic and Sports Massage. \nOur 96 hour\, six course certification will help our students gain a deeper understanding of soft tissue injuries\, how to treat them and what causes them. We will use the study of the anatomy to get a wider comprehension of the musculature and other structures that support movement to enhance the students understanding of how function is achieved in the body. These classes will deepen your understanding of injury and pain and advance your confidence to provide treatment to your clients. \nAdvanced Certification Page \nAbout the Instructors\nCristian Arroyo has been a practicing LMT/Personal Trainer for 23 years. He has developed a professional clinical practice working with athletes and the general population\, specializing in the causes and treatments for pain\, injury and discomfort. His years of experience lend to a thorough understanding of dysfunction in the body which supports a more efficient and positive treatment protocol for his clients. \nIn addition to massage therapy\, Cristian has trained extensively in functional anatomy\, sports massage\, corrective exercise training/programming\, and orthopedic assessment. Cristian has been an instructor of Kinesiology\, Neuromuscular Therapy\, and Sports Massage at the Florida School of Massage since 2005. He has shared his passion and enthusiasm for understanding human function with thousands of students over the years\, often bringing his clinical experience in the real world to the classroom. \nKeith Mulford has been practicing massage since 2009 and instructing in Swedish\, Sports\, Neuromuscular Massage and Applied Kinesiology at the Florida School of Massage since 2016. In 2011 he completed his certification in Integrative Massage and Personal Training. During his studies he became skilled in assessing and treating injuries\, orthopedic testing\, functional movement and specific bodywork treatments focusing on injuries.
