Workshop Description:

Bones for Life® is based upon the principles of the Feldenkrais Method® as well as NASA’s research on bone strength. Emphasis is upon developing a well-functioning and springy alignment, so that daily activities such as walking stimulate the bones and support comfortable easy movement and posture as well as healthy bones.

Goals are:

*Stimulate your bone strength and experience the biological optimism of a reliable skeleton
*Coordinate a springy and dynamic walk
* Align your posture into safe weight-bearing uprightness
* Enhance the pleasure of moving
*Develop harmonious coordination
*Empower lively & dynamic gait
*Train in bone building walking in rhythm
*Reach quality aging & natural fitness
*Restore resourcefulness of equilibrium & stability
*Align posture in the body language of self confidence

Exercises are done standing, sitting, or lying on floor.  Participant should be able to lie on the back on the floor, and move to and from the floor with minimal or no assistance.  This class is suitable for those in early stages of bone loss, but not for those with advanced osteoporosis.

Exercises are done on a carpeted floor.  Bring a mat or towel if you want more padding.  Bring a small towel and 2 washcloths for exercise props. This class is suitable for and open to the general public.  Emphasis is on self-care.  Six hands-on CE hours, Florida and NCBTMB, are granted, although no massage technique is practiced.

“The quality of body organization, posture, and coordination of movement needs to be upgraded in order to sustain successfully the challenge of the heightened pressure of dynamic movement. Creating conditions to increase bone strength through well-organized posture and dynamic movement is the point of departure for the Bones for Life program.” —-Ruthy Alon, founder of Bones for Life®, author of Mindful Spontaneity.
