    Posture: It’s an Inside Job

    Ann Harman

Posture can be improved, easily and painlessly, at any age.  Using our uniquely human intelligence, we can align ourselves with gravity and move in ways that do not create pain. In this class we will use the gentle explorations of the Feldenkrais Method® of Movement Education to develop flexibility, support, and self-awareness in the spine.  We will also explore how flexibility and strength can compliment, not counteract each other. Instead of stretching and strengthening, we will use methods based on developmental learning and neurological reprogramming to effect change.

    Bones for Life

    Ann Harman

Bones for Life® is based upon the principles of the Feldenkrais Method® as well as NASA’s research on bone strength. Emphasis is upon developing a well-functioning and springy alignment, so that daily activities such as walking stimulate the bones and support comfortable easy movement and posture as well as healthy bones.

    Movement-Based Bodywork: Foundations Of Breathwork

    Ann Harman

Join us in an exploration of the breath! We will do a variety of guided sequences involving self-palpation, movement, and breath. The goal is not to learn the prescribed “right” way to breathe, but for each to find his or her own deep and nourishing breath. Learning is painless, through fascinating investigations of movement and casual discussion.

Movement Based Bodywork: Applications of Breathwork

    Ann Harman

This class focuses on hands-on methods which augment the clients’ ability to breathe deeply and to have free movement throughout the entire anatomy of respiration. These techniques are especially good for chronic pain syndromes, fibromyalgia, and fatigue.

Movement-Based Bodywork: Understanding The Temporomandibular Joint

    Ann Harman

We will use the gentle movement sequences of the Feldenkrais Method® in order to learn to relax the mouth, jaw, and related structures.  We will discover how it is influenced by other structures such as the pelvis, spine, tongue and throat. We will practice exploratory exercises which not only illuminate these relationships, but also help the participant to relax hypertonic muscles, increase range of motion, and decrease pain in these areas.

    Ortho-Bionomy Self Care

    Luann Overmyer

Through the practice of Self Care we discover the self-corrective capacity of our bodies and empower ourselves in the process of self-healing and well-being. In this class, we will take time to slow down and listen to the body’s responses.   By noticing your sensations and discriminating between more, or less comfortable, the body learns to choose comfort and move with ease.

Movement-Based Bodywork: Applications for the Temporomandibular Joint

    Ann Harman

We will learn hands-on techniques to accomplish the following: increase the client’s kinesthetic awareness of the mandible and its functional movement; increase mandibular and cervical ranges of motion; and use active assisted range of motion techniques to engage the client’s active cooperation to achieve these goals.
