Myofascial therapy is a tool to help you work more easily and effectively with all your clients. It addresses all levels of the human structure: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Myofascial therapy is intuitive; it is effortless and applicable for all clients. It will also help you, as therapist, to avoid burnout from overwork. This workshop is inherently hands-on. All students will give and receive this work and will be able to apply these techniques immediately in their practice. There will also be a comprehensive anatomical review using the Video Atlas of Human Anatomy. Try something new to re-energize your joy of massage!
Do you find yourself wishing for more effective techniques to help your clients with neck and shoulder pain? This workshop is designed to refine your skills in assessing and addressing pain in the neck and shoulder.
In this workshop you will:
- Gain confidence in your palpation and anatomical identification skills.
Practice the techniques of Myofascial Therapy (in plain English, the melting, lengthening, spreading, and defining of connective tissues)
- Learn to engage your clients in the healing process through utilizing active and resistive movements.
- Focus on increasing your awareness of patterns that reside in the body (including physical habits, overuse patterns, mental and emotional patterns, and your own pattern).
- Develop more refined touching skills, getting results without transgressing the client's pain threshold.
- Learn to slow down, focus your attention, and work with less effort.
- HAVE FUN!
You will be encouraged to develop a multi-disciplinary approach to chronic neck and shoulder pain, exploring such techniques as ice therapy, cross fiber friction, muscle energy techniques, active isolated stretching, orthopedic assessments and self care. Workshop participants should bring pillows, sheets, towels and oil. All students should be able to give and receive treatments. A workbook is included with the workshop and a certificate of completion will be awarded.
