Licensing RequirementsNational Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork The completion of the 665 hour Massage and Hydrotherapy Program and supervised practice prepares participants to take the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. This exam is required for licensure in the State of Florida and most other states. If you are from out of state please familiarize yourself with the requirements of the state in which you plan to practice before enrolling in the program. New York State and Requirements Outside of Florida Effective January 1, 2000, New York State required 1000 hours of training and specific coursework. A few other states have also increased their requirements. We work with students to provide flexible course alternatives that allow you to fulfill increased state requirements. By creatively combining our 665 hour Massage and Hydrotherapy Program with a variety of advanced trainings, graduates of FSM have met the licensing requirements of most states.
