About Us

Dear Prospective Student,

Experience Florida School of Massage

Our web site is designed so you can experience the Florida School of Massage and make the best decision for your massage therapy career.

We focus on Awareness and Communication

When offered in a context of awareness, massage therapy training can be a vehicle for personal growth and transformation. Through touch we are invited to inquire into the process of our tension. When we attend to that process, we change.

Massage Therapy Training as Empowerment

Massage therapy training can open doors to greater clarity and creativity in our lives. Our charter as massage therapists is to provide a safe space for our clients to let go and reorganize themselves as happy and functional beings. Our charter as a school is to provide you with the nurturance and guidance needed to create that space.

Learn to Cultivate Sensitivity and Skills in Touch

We focus on touch that is available without being intrusive. The only way to develop this skill is to touch and be touched with awareness and sensitivity. In this way we create a safe space for personal awareness. This safe space leads to mutual caring and a sense of community. The potential for your own growth and transformation is great. As an FSM student you may leave changed.

The Physical Beauty of the FSM Campus

The extraordinary physical beauty of the FSM campus fosters change. Our campus is immediately adjacent to the 21,000-acre Payne’s Prairie wildlife preserve. The prairie is a wetland that hosts an array of creatures ranging from baby gators and otters to night heron and wood storks. It is one of the largest wintering grounds for sand hill cranes in North America.

We are located on ten acres in the raised hammock area that surrounds the prairie. The hardwood canopy is home to bard owls and red-tailed hawks, peacocks and armadillos. There are vegetable and herb gardens, a quarter mile of wooded walking paths, a fire pit in an open field, and picnic tables under Spanish moss draped live oaks.

Beautiful Groups and Unique Buildings Foster Community Experience

We have a Chikee, a traditional Seminole structure hand thatched with palmetto. You will also find a sweat lodge  ribbed with cedar with a live oak spine. There is a kitchen and counseling center located in a little "cracker" house in the middle of it all.

Students enjoy dancing and drum circles around the fire and volleyball in the open field. Introspection and meditation along the trails nourish the sense of community that is the ground for awareness and transformation.

Changing Lives Through Massage Therapy Education for 30 Years

Our students come from as far away as Ireland, India, and Zimbabwe. We invite you to make us part of your personal path. We hope you will join us in our process together as sensitive, caring, and whole human beings subject to the magic that can occur when individuals agree to touch with healing intention and consciousness.

Best Wishes,

Paul Davenport

Inspiration
"Everyone has his unique way of stating the Truth as she/he sees it, and that uniqueness is important, because there will be only certain people you and I will touch in this lifetime, and for those encounters, honesty will be the container of all the gifts we will give and receive."
Hugh Prather

Testimonial
"For the last ten years I have been a therapist at a Vermont Spa and combined with the private practice I've built over the last 13 years I've managed to touch and influence the quality of thousands of people's lives while enjoying the rewards of living in a beautiful and peaceful mountain environment.
Choosing FSM was the best decision I ever made and I know that I am only one of the thousands of students that probably feel the same way."
Joseph L., 1987 FSM Alumnus
