The Florida School of Massage (FSM) will be launching two acclaimed Therapeutic Massage and Hydrotherapy programs including a 6-month daytime program starting in October and a one year night program in Septemeber. The Therapeutic Massage and Hydrotherapy program is a transformative and empowering journey that provides students the flexibility to pursue professional massage part time or full-time upon graduation.

The comprehensive conceptual and experiential curriculum addresses the body and mind in totality and teaches students the interdependent forces that support healthy living.

“Not only do I have a greater understanding of the body on a mental level but also a greater understanding of my own body…. I am now aware of pains, aches and different patterns in my body,” says Eze Sanchez, licensed LMT, recent FSM graduate, and owner of Conscious Intuitive Touch, his Gainesville-based venture. “Often times we do not practice proper body mechanics because we are not aware. Having this new awareness of how my body feels is an invaluable tool to carry through life,” Sanchez explains.

The daytime and night program incorporates hydrotherapy, the use of therapeutic applications of heat and cold, icepacks, saunas, whirlpools and other tools as a curative and preventative form of therapy. Students are also introduced to a range of concepts such awareness based bodywork, reflexology, connective tissue therapy, polarity therapy, neuromuscular therapy, sports massage, anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, pathology, professional development, awareness and communication skills, professional ethics, and clinical practicum. The program’s holistic approach creates a supportive environment for self-discovery while equipping graduates with the necessary professional and interpersonal skills to create a fulfilling career in massage therapy.

“I now feel extremely confident when somebody comes to my office or my table and presents a particular problem. I immediately have ideas of what might be at play, where to start and how to incorporate the communication skills that I’ve learned at FSM and continue to strengthen outside of school,” says Sanchez.

The six month daytime program starts on October 4th and will run every Monday- Friday from 8:00AM-2:30PM. The one year night program begins on September 8th and will run every Monday-Thursday from 6:15-9:00PM with approximately one Saturday class per month from 9:00AM- 3:30PM. Registration is now open and financial aid is available for those who qualify.
